Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up?

It is hard to argue that anyone has been more influential in the history of the world than Jesus of Nazareth. His influence on billions of Christians is obvious (or should be!), but his influence on so many cultures of the world goes much further still. Yet there are many different ideas out there about who Jesus really was, and about what we can even know of him.

There are a number of different ways to investigate the question of who Jesus really was, what he really did. But one very useful one is looking at the historical record.

In a SPOTR Seminar last year we started this journey through looking at Jesus Outside the Bible – considering mentions of him in historical documents shortly after his time, and what we can glean from them. Our next seminar, coming up next week (Monday 23rd February) will explore the historical evidence we can glean from the New Testament itself. We will have a presentation and a chance for questions and responses. If you were at the previous seminar, this will build on that for you. But this seminar will work as a stand alone as well, so it doesn’t matter if you didn’t make the last one.

All are welcome! We’d love to have you there.
